I reflected these days about "feeling God in my life."
How many people say "I feel God in my life"? Who says that, often repeats the same repertoire of feelings: A falling tear, some cry, an emotion (especially if collectively), speaking in a strange language, and voila: “God is here because I felt a strange heat that rises through the back!” or “my heart is beating strangely.” All end up with an emotional feedback received from your friends: "It happened to me as well! God is here is, I have no doubt!"
Finished
this "experience" with God, each one returns back to their home for
everyday life and incredibly, the one who felt the “manifestation of God in his
life”, now is fighting with the children and the spouse. Another one keeping lying
while selling or buying. Another one is still jealous to see a brother's
possessions. Nothing has changed since the "felt God in my life."
I once
heard a sermon that elucidated what an encounter with God. God gave the
preacher to say:
"Before
coming to worship tonight I was stuck on the highway with a flat tyre. I stopped
on the hard shoulder and when I take the wheel bolt, the nut rolled into the
middle of the highway. I went back to get it running when not even realize I
was hit by a truck of 50 tonnes."
"The
brother is nailing craziness! As may have been hit by a huge truck and be here
in front of us without a broken bone or without a single bruise? A hit with a
truck 50 tons if not kill, it would totally deformed him! "
"Christ is much bigger than a 50-ton
truck. If you truly had met him, you'd be dead to sin. But if the human carnalities
remain in you, you have not had any experience with Christ. You have not met
Christ yet. "
This is
the current situation of the church. They want to have sensorial experiences
with Christ only. They want to feel emotions in Christ, but do not want to live
with Christ. Christ suffered, we do not want to suffer. Christ had nowhere to
lean his head, we want Him to give us a comfortable house, a nice car, a good
salary, travel, luxury. We do not want
to walk with Christ!
We made
in our head a distorted picture of what Christ is. Do not take Christ
altogether, but only parts of Christ and we want in our lives. We want a Christ
who heals, multiplies, expels demons, but we do not want a Christ who gives up
power, wealth and recognition. We do not want a Christ who renounces all the
glory and had to die for sinners and take upon themselves all the wrath of God.
We do not want a risen Christ, triumphant over sin and death.
We love
our sins. We love lying, cheating, envy, slander, cursing, divide, separate.
"What's mine is mine alone." We hate to divide our bread, or love to your
neighbour even when he hates us. We hate to tell the truth when we can have
loss.
And so
we live. In boasting of emotional moments with God, with tears of
cold-in-spine, hearts-boiling and do not give reasons for God to glorify us to
see that men were sinners now seek sanctification in Christ. We were selfish
now share the bread. We lied and we now proclaim the truth.
Let not be
Christians by title only, but have works of true Christians. Let us have a real
experience with Christ, having our lives transformed by Him
May God
bless us every day in the grace we received from Christ.
